Hi! I'm Joel

I'm a first year human-computer interaction PhD student from the GroupLens lab at the University of Minnesota. My two awesome co-advisors are Dr. Harmanpreet Kaur and Dr. Stevie Chancellor.

My research interests lie at the intersection of collective behavior and conflict in online communities and human-centered AI. I pursue these interests through two lines of work. In the first, I explore how we can support online communities with novel content moderation tools. In the second, I investigate how LLMs influence cognition and mental health.
